Do you want to have your say on how your local NHS is run? Do you have a few hours a month to volunteer to help your local CCG design and deliver safe, high quality healthcare services in mid Essex?
If you do then we want to hear from you.
Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (MECCG) is looking for volunteers to help us design and plan new commissioning proposals. We are looking for people who have a strong interest in their local NHS to have their say on how we plan, commission and monitor healthcare in the area.
The CCG has the following voluntary opportunities for residents who live, work or use health services in the area.
Community Champions – In this voluntary role you will be truly at the heart of your community. We want to hear from volunteers who already know and have contacts across the board with anyone and everyone who has an interest in their local community to enable a two-way conversation with patients.
You’ll attend our monthly PRG meetings and inform discussions with commissioners, as well as update the group on other local initiatives in your area. We’re also looking for volunteers who are happy to use their community contacts to help when we are running engagement programmes so we reach as many of our 380,000 patient population as possible. You’ll be supported by the Communications and Engagement team and we’re also looking for volunteers who aren’t afraid to get out and about and initiate conversations.
Commissioning Champions – If you have an interest in a particular part of the local NHS, or have first hand experience of using local NHS services then we’d love to hear from you to become one of our volunteer Commissioning Champions. You’ll join our bank of volunteers with specific interests and, when the CCG starts designing a commissioning proposal, we’ll get in touch to ask your opinions on what we can do to make it better. To register your interest simply email your name and contact details, and we’ll be in touch to ask your healthcare areas of interest. When we start looking at services, we’ll be in touch with you to see if you are interested in getting involved.
The Chair of MECCG, Dr Caroline Dollery, said: “The CCG is now in its third year of operation and we want more patient voice represented at an earlier stage of commissioning planning.
“The CCG has had to make some very difficult decisions over the last 12 months, and it faces another very challenging year so it’s vital that patients who want to have their say get involved in as early a stage as possible to let us know what they want to see happen to improve their local NHS.
