AposTherapy® is an innovative, personalised, non-surgical and drug-free programme for knee pain, based on a foot-worn biomechanical device which is individually-calibrated by specially-trained chartered physiotherapists. Developed by medical doctors coming from the fields of orthopaedics and sports medicine and founded on well-established scientific principles. AposTherapy® is clinically proven to deliver long term pain relief and to improve function, mobility and quality of life.
Knee pain, especially for people whose joints are deteriorating due to arthritis and other conditions, can be debilitating. Previously, knee replacement surgery has been the only option for some people, but it’s a complex process and takes a lot of recovery. To help people with certain types of knee pain avoid the need for an operation, a long recovery period, the CCG has been offering a novel alternative therapy (AposTherapy®) to patients it is suitable for.
AposTherapy®, involves a customised shoe that people wear for a few hours a day after consultation with a qualified physiotherapist. It is clinically proven to help knee joints realign in a way that eases discomfort and helps people avoid the need for surgery for a number of years – or even for good. You can speak to your GP if you feel it might be an option for you.
One of the people who has benefited from AposTherapy® is Vic Goodey, a mid Essex resident who shares his experience of using the shoe in a video we put together. Reema Patel, one of the physios who worked with Vic, explains a little more about how it all works.
