Celebrating our community’s contributions to health and care

People from Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon and the surrounding areas came together at the second annual Marvels of Mid Awards last Thursday to celebrate how they have helped people to live well.

Hosted by Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the awards – called the MOMAs for short – are designed to thank patient representatives and other volunteers, primary care workers and community organisations for the positive difference they have made to local healthcare.

The MOMAs followed the CCG’s Annual General Meeting at Chelmsford City Football Club. More than 60 people came to see the awards presentations, across 11 categories, on 28 September. The winners were:

Primary Care Award

  • WINNER: Karen Randall (Dengie Medical Partnership)
  • Highly Commended: Mary Oaiya

Volunteer of the Year Award

  • WINNERS: Sue McIvor and John Salisbury
  • Highly Commended: Moriom Bibi

Individual Patient Participant of the Year

  • WINNER: Marian Redding (Fern House Surgery)
  • Highly Commended: David Wilkin (Longfield Medical Centre)

Patient Participation Group of the Year

  • WINNER: Beauchamp House Surgery PPG

Start Well Award

  • WINNER: Columbus School and College
  • Highly Commended: Great Notley Junior Park Run

Be Well Award

  • WINNER: Donna Dobrowolski
  • Highly Commended: Health in Mind – Mid Essex Building Self Esteem Group

Stay Well Award

  • WINNER: Health in Mind Mid Essex – COPD Project
  • Highly Commended: The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity

Age Well Award

  • WINNER: Maldon Rugby Club
  • Highly Commended: Greenfields Community Housing

Die Well Award

  • WINNER: Rebecca Loan (Macmillan Carers Service)
  • Highly Commended: Nichola Faiers

Connect Well Award

  • WINNER: Val Thompstone
  • Highly Commended: James Taylor

Community Ambassador Award (voted for by the public)
