Today is Anti-Slavery Day, created to raise awareness of modern slavery and to inspire government, business and individuals to eliminate it. Do you know the signs of modern slavery? A new video from NHS England shows what to look out for.
A new helpline also launches today giving people the chance to report any modern slavery suspicions or concerns about individuals, premises or locations. If you are know anyone who might be affected by modern slavery, or even have personal experience of it, please call 08000 121 700, free of charge.
Anti-Slavery Day was created in 2010 by a Private Members Bill introduced by Anthony Steen CBE, then MP for Totnes. Since then it has grown significantly and each year more and more charities, individuals, local authorities and police forces take action to mark Anti-Slavery Day.
