Non-emergency patient transport

ERS Medical has been appointed by Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group to deliver non-emergency patient transport services from 1 May 2014. Patients may receive this service if they live in mid Essex and are attending a healthcare appointment or are being discharged from healthcare providers in the area.

ERS Medical will also provide patients with a telephone reminder service to make contact the day before an appointment to confirm the time of collection. On the day of an appointment, ERS Medical will telephone again to confirm that they are en route to collect the patient.

ERS Medical is one of the UK’s largest independent healthcare providers. It has more than 30 operational bases across the UK, including several locations in Essex, and completes more than a million healthcare journeys each year. It is also a member of The Independent Ambulance Association UK (IAAUK) and registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As a result, ERS Medical is subject to the identical CQC compliance protocols as all of the UK’s ten NHS Ambulance Trusts. This includes unannounced visits by inspectors who are legally empowered to check vehicles, search files, and to speak with employees, customers and patients about their experience.
