Mid and South Essex STP Joint Committee

The SustainabilityTransformation Plan (STP) Joint Committee is a meeting of the Clinical Commissioning Groups in mid and south Essex which is held in public and presided over by an independent Chair. This Committee is made up of the GP Chairs and Accountable Officers from each of the Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The STP Joint Committee will act collectively in the planning, securing and monitoring of services to meet the needs of the population of mid and south Essex, as well as representing the STP footprint for services commissioned over a larger area. Working collaboratively in this way will allow us to have a stronger influence and this means better outcomes for patients. It also allows us to provide greater scrutiny and influence on any decision that affects our area.

Specifically, the STP Joint Committee will commission and manage the contracts for Acute services (NHS and independent sector), NHS 111 and Out of Hours services, ambulance services, Patient Transport services and acute Mental Health services. The STP Joint Committee will also play a role in decision making about Learning Disability services within the existing pan-Essex arrangements. All other decisions about healthcare will continue be taken locally by the relevant CCG. The STP Joint Committee is not an organisation or legal entity, the individual CCGs are the statutory organisations responsible for commissioning healthcare in this area.

If members of the public would like to attend a meeting of the STP Joint Committee, they are asked to contact Viv Barnes, Interim Board Secretary, on 01245 398139, or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. The first meeting of the STP Joint Committee will be held from 4.30pm to 5.30pm on Friday 7 July 2017 in the Boardroom of Basildon & Brentwood CCG at Phoenix Place, Christopher Martin Road, Basildon, Essex, SS14 3HG.
